We design space as part of the place

A playground does not exist separately from the territory. It is connected to the architecture, topography, trees, routes, light, water, surfaces, and how people will use the space every day.

"Cheharda" designs play, educational, and public spaces so that they do not look like random objects on a site. We look for the connection between the idea, landscape, architecture, and the life of the place.

Before the object, there is already a place

A site is never empty. Even if nothing has been built on it yet, it has topography, direction of light, existing trees, entrances, paths, neighboring buildings, views, wind, water, noise, and habitual routes.

We start by figuring out how the territory is organized. Where children will be able to linger, where adults will observe, where it is best to leave shade, how to pass through the site, what to preserve, and where not to interfere with the already established life of the place.
Topography
A change in height can become a route, a slide, a place for observation, or quiet play. It doesn’t always need to be leveled.
Trees and plants
Existing trees can provide shade, scale, boundaries for the space, and a reason for play. We try to include them in the project rather than bypassing them formally.
Routes
We look at where people come from, where they go next, and where they naturally stop. This way, the play space becomes part of the movement through the territory.
Architecture
Objects, materials, color, and scale should be connected to the surrounding buildings, not argue with them.

From image to spatial solution

Architectural and landscape design helps to connect the idea of the space with a specific territory. Here, the form of objects, routes, zones, surfaces, plantings, materials, and connections between them are determined.
Depending on the task, the work may include:

  • Territorial layout solution
  • Placement of play objects and functional zones
  • Design of routes, surfaces, small architectural forms, and rest areas
  • Work with topography, landscaping, shade, and natural materials
  • Architectural image of play objects
  • Selection of materials and colors
  • Connection with existing or designed architecture
  • Coordination of solutions with related project sections

Nature is not a background

For a child, it is important not only what they can climb on. The surface under their feet, the shade from a tree, water after rain, a branch, a hill, a stone, grass, a narrow path, and a place to hide are all important.

We design so that the landscape participates in the game. We do not turn every meter of the territory into equipment, but leave room for movement, observation, imagination, and personal initiative.

A play environment can be complex and interesting without unnecessary noise. It does not necessarily have to consist of bright plastic objects for a child to want to linger in it.
Architectural and landscape design can be a standalone service. After it, the client receives a spatial solution that can be further developed with their own team.

If needed, "Cheharda" can continue the work: prepare working documentation, develop play scenarios, manufacture elements, organize installation, or manage the facility within a full cycle.

Design is one of the stages of work

Let’s look at your territory

You might have a finished project, a site with complex topography, a courtyard, a park, or a school or hotel territory. Tell us about the task — together we will determine what is important to preserve and where to start the design.
