From idea to finished space

"Cheharda" designs and implements play, educational, and public spaces. We can walk the entire path together — from the first conversation about the site to the finished facility — or join at a specific stage of work.

Every project has its own path

Sometimes people come to us with an empty plot and a question: what could appear here? Sometimes — with a ready-made master plan, sometimes — with a sketch that needs to be brought to realization. Sometimes only a concept is needed, and sometimes — a full cycle up to installation.

We start with what exists: the territory, the task, limitations, and the people who will use the space. Then we assemble the project in such a way that the idea isn’t lost on the road to the finished object.
01. Territory and Task
We study the location, initial data, future users, architecture, landscape, topography, routes, and site constraints.
02. Concept
We look for the image of the space and develop scenarios for play, movement, rest, and communication. We gather a general idea that can be moved forward with.
03. Design
We develop architectural and landscape solutions. We determine how objects, routes, zones, surfaces, and connections between them will be arranged.
04. Working Documentation
We translate the idea into precise solutions: structures, materials, nodes, specifications, and documents required to implement the project.
05. Production
We select materials, develop, and manufacture elements. We ensure that form, tactility, and durability work together.
06. Delivery and Installation
We organize logistics and installation, taking into account site features, the territory’s schedule, and the workflow on-site.
07. Playground Certification
Confirmation that children’s play equipment and shock-absorbing surfaces meet safety requirements. Obtaining the certificate.
08. Handing Over the Facility
We conduct a final inspection, hand over the necessary documentation, and provide warranty obligations in accordance with the contract terms.

You can go the whole way with us.

CONCEPT AND STRATEGY
When you need to understand what a space could become, where to start, and how to connect play with the territory. We study the initial data, form an image, scenarios, zoning, and the logic of the project’s development.
ARCHITECTURAL AND LANDSCAPE DESIGN
We develop the space as part of the place: we work with architecture, topography, plants, routes, materials, and future users.
WORKING DOCUMENTATION
We prepare the project for implementation. We work out structures, nodes, materials, specifications, and other solutions that determine how the idea will be assembled on-site.
PRODUCTION
We develop and manufacture play elements and objects. We select materials taking into account the concept, load, climate, tactility, and future operation.
DELIVERY AND INSTALLATION
We organize delivery, site preparation, and installation. We coordinate the workflow taking into account the features of the territory and the facility’s schedule.
AUTHOR'S SUPERVISION
We accompany the project implementation to ensure that the solutions adopted at the design stage are preserved in the material and on-site.

You can start with what you already have

You might have an idea, a plot of land, a master plan, a landscaping concept, a finished project, or just a feeling that the territory lacks life. We join at various stages and together determine what needs to be done next.
There is a site and a task
We start with research and a concept. We help you understand what the space could be like and how it connects with the territory.
There is a master plan or landscaping concept
We integrate the play space into the existing logic: routes, architecture, landscape, engineering solutions, and usage scenarios.
There is a project that needs to be implemented
We study the documentation and determine to what extent we can join the development of elements, production, delivery, and installation.
Need to update an existing space
We look at how the territory is used now, what prevents it from "living," and what changes will yield noticeable results.

What happens behind the scenes, but determines the result

An idea becomes a space through material, structure, and precision in details. Therefore, for us, design, production, installation, and documentation are interconnected.

We select solutions taking into account the location, load, climate, age of users, and future operation. During the work process, we consider safety requirements for children’s play equipment.

For every implemented facility, the bureau prepares a set of documents required for handover.
Depending on the scope of the project, this may include:
  • Certificate for children’s play equipment
  • Product and play element passports
  • Declarations of conformity
  • Documents for used materials
  • As-built and accompanying documentation
  • Warranty obligations in accordance with the contract terms

From concept to finished place

Every implemented object is a journey from the first idea to the moment people appear in the space. In our projects, you can see how play scenarios, natural materials, architectural forms, and territory features come together into a single environment.
OLD LIGHTHOUSE

Moscow
2021

A large playground featuring a high-rise art object in the form of a Lighthouse, integrated into the multifunctional leisure zone of the "Ostafyevo" residential complex.

According to legend, an old lighthouse on a distant ocean island was once damaged by a severe storm. Joining forces, children built scaffolding around the lighthouse, as well as suspension bridges to neighboring islands, to make it easier for guys to get there from their homes for construction.

The central architectural landmark of the playground is a ten-meter play art object with a slide and a viewing platform amidst "construction forests." To convey the image of an old lighthouse that has seen many views, trees of natural geometry were used in its casing. Nine-meter tree trunks with branches were selected so that they could embrace the circumference of the lighthouse, preserving its silhouette and forming a complete shape. In the lighthouse casing, the trees are interwoven in three layers.

The final position of each tree was determined directly on the playground, and as a result, every branch found its place in the complex interlacing of unpredictable forms!

This unique solution has no world analogs and adds artistic value to the image of the lighthouse, adding mystery and offering many ways to interpret the created image.
In addition to the architectural dominant, the "Old Lighthouse" playhub combines several play islands: a sand island, a climbing island, and a movement island. They are separated by paths and connected to each other by underground tunnels.

Together, the play elements provide a full range of diverse types of movement, contributing to harmonious physical development and brain development.
"TRUBA" (PIPE/FLUE) PLAYGROUND IN "JAZZ" RESIDENTIAL COMPLEX

Moscow
2022

Concept & architectural supervision: Megabudka bureau Design & construction: Cheharda bureau
The playground is inspired by the name of the residential complex where it is located. It is the first children’s space in Moscow where complex technical solutions have come together with a unique musical concept and a modern approach to the physical and intellectual development of children.

Toddlers will find Caribbean white sand, a tactile wall, and various sorters here, while older kids will find horizontal nets and objects with optical and musical effects. We also provided slides, an active play zone, trampolines, and vine ropes for teenagers up to 14 years old.
The central play element is a year-round funnel slide. Children’s slides of this scale are a great rarity.

By inviting an experienced campanologist specializing in bell creation to the project, we managed to make it not only impressive but also maximally safe for children.

All play elements form a single route. By traversing it, children gain new experience, develop communication skills, train agility, and receive positive emotions.

The 450 m² area includes: a multifunctional play art object and shock-absorbing surfaces.

Not everything important happens at a desk

Sometimes a child needs to climb higher. Sometimes — to spend a long time building something out of twigs, arguing with friends about the rules, or quietly watching how the water changes in puddles after the rain.

In such moments, observation skills, independence, imagination, and the ability to be with others emerge. A space cannot teach everything instead of an adult, but it can give a child a reason to try, to choose, and not to be afraid of making mistakes.

That is why our projects feature not only clear play elements but also free zones, natural materials, different levels of complexity, and the opportunity to change the scenario.
